WHO WE ARE

Michael and Rebekah Shipper are the husband and wife team behind A Home Made Life. They started the business in an effort to create a life for their family where they could follow dreams and turn them into a reality.

Before A Home Made Life, Michael was a middle school math teacher for 14 years. His background before education, however, was construction. Michael has worked in every aspect of construction over the years: He has built new home construction and pole barns, he has renovated historic homes in Yellow Springs, Ohio. He has worked on roofing crews, framing crews, drywall crews, and even operated a spray booth for a few years. Even after becoming a teacher, he continued to do a combination of construction and woodworking as a way to provide for his family. Eventually, Rebekah became more and more involved in these projects, helping clients pick finishes and working with them to create layouts.

As Michael and Rebekah’s family grew, so did their desire to create a life where they could be together as family. They wanted to build a life that was unique to who they are and what they wanted; and what they wanted was to live and learn and grow together. They wanted to cultivate a life of connection and intentional living, both for themselves and for those they came in contact with through their work.
